FACULTY

The CCRN Review is presented by two nationally-known nurse educators. They each have lectured extensively throughout the United States, and have published widely in the critical care nursing literature. They are coauthors of Elsevier's Critical Care Skills - A Clinical Handbook. Together, they have extensive experience in critical care nursing, including roles in both clinical practice and education in a major metropolitan teaching hospital. This faculty is known for their extensive, in-depth knowledge base, awareness of current trends and research findings, and the ability to explain complex concepts and assist learners in applying theory to clinical practice.

Days 1 and 2: Barbara Clark Mims, R.N., M.S.N

Ms. Mims has forty years experience in critical care, including roles as a clinician, nurse manager, and nurse educator. She has worked in Coronary Care, Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care, Medical Intensive Care, and Respiratory Intensive Care. She has held numerous educational positions, including that of Director of Nursing Education at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. She is currently the manager of the Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland. Ms. Mims is a dynamic speaker and has lectured extensively.

She has published widely in the nursing literature. She is the editor of Case Studies in Critical Care Nursing and the senior author of Critical Care Skills: A Clinical Handbook, an AJN Book of the Year for critical care.

Day 3: Laura E. Luecke,
R.N., M.S.N., ACNP


Ms. Luecke is an experienced critical care nurse and gifted nurse educator. Her area of focus is cardiovascular nursing, and her depth and scope of knowledge in this speciality is truly phenomenal. Ms. Luecke has published many article and textbook chapters in cardiovascular critical care, and she is a coauthor of Critical Care Skills: A Clinical Handbook. She is currently the Program Coordinator of the AACN-approved Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas. Ms. Luecke has lectured extensively on many cardiovascular topics.

Her high energy, animated style, and sense of humor combine with her expertise to create an exceptionally effective and enjoyable teaching style.
