Kathleen H. Toto, R.N., M.S.N., ACNP, is a nationally known speaker and highly respected acute care nurse practitioner. She has published over 30 articles and chapters in the nursing literature, including a 2007 pending publication: Complex Acid-Base Disorders and Associated Electrolyte Imbalances in the AACN Textbook for Experienced Practitioners: Advanced, Acute, and Critical Care Nursing.

She is also a coauthor of Elsevier's Critical Care Skills: A Clinical Handbook, which received the AJN Book of the Year Award in 2005.

During her more than 18 years experience in critical care, Kathy has held numerous positions, including Coordinator of the Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. She is currently an acute care nurse practitioner in the Heart Failure Clinic at Parkland.
