OBJECTIVES

Review the mechanism of action, physiologic effects, and pharmacokinetics of the following agents: 

a. dopamine
b. dobutamine
c. Levophed
d. Nipride
e. nitroglycerine
f. vasopressin
g. milrinone

Explain the anatomy and physiology of the autonomic nervous system as it pertains to "drip titration."

Outline a systematic approach to assessing and managing the patient undergoing vasoactive drug therapy.

Utilize hemodynamic parameters in clinical decision-making when caring for the patient undergoing vasoactive drug therapy.
