Barbara Clark Mims, R.N., M.S.N., has thirty-nine years experience in critical care, including roles as a clinician, nurse manager, and nurse educator. She has worked in Coronary Care, Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care, Medical Intensive Care, and Respiratory Intensive Care. She has held numerous educational positions, including that of Director of Nursing Education at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. She is currently the manager of the Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland. Ms. Mims is a dynamic speaker and has lectured extensively throughout the country. She has published widely in the nursing literature. She is the editor of Case Studies in Critical Care Nursing and the senior author of Critical Care Skills: A Clinical Handbook which was previously an AJN Book of the Year for critical care.
